Thurston-Lewis-Mason Central Labor Council
The South Sound Labor School

The Thurston - Lewis - Mason Central Labor Council’s South Sound Labor School was founded to provide Labor education to help working people - whether they’re in a union or not - fight against the growing attacks on their livelihoods and dignity.

Throughout the year the South Sound Labor School plans to offer classes and programming that will empower the people working and living in our communities to stand up and stand together so they can better conditions for themselves, their co-workers, and their families.

In 2026, the Thurston-Lewis-Mason CLC's South Sound Labor School and the WA LERC will host a series of Saturday education programs for union activists in Olympia.

We want union members in our region to make their voices heard at their unions' Conventions. With that in mind, we’ve put together this primer on how YOU can be an effective Delegate at any union Convention, and at the Washington State Labor Council Convention in particular.
Our region has a rich Labor history - but unfortunately, working people's history and labor history is often not taught in schools.
No matter what you've been told, unions make your community stronger and are good for business. Find out more about what unions do for their members, and for everyone working and living in our region
The labor movement has always led the charge to protect working people from workplace injury, illness and death. Through organizing and collective bargaining, unions have gained even stronger protections and rights that have given workers a real voice in safety and health at the workplace.
There is something fundamentally wrong with our economy. The rich keep getting richer while working people are working longer hours just to make ends meet. Despite year after year of increased productivity, we are not sharing in the fruits of our labor.
Put your dollar to work by buying union-made products and signing up for union-made services
