The federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has published a 412- page proposed rule that would rewrite the regulations governing every federal grant in the country. This rule includes prohibitions on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) activities, gender ideology, gender transition services, and abortion funding – and it requires that programs receiving federal grants align with the current administration’s priorities. The rule also contains provisions that would allow the federal government to terminate grants that don’t align with the administration’s priorities.
OMB is required to ask for comment on proposed rules and to consider those comments before enacting a final rule. An avalanche of well-reasoned comments, sent in opposition to these rules, will make it harder for OMB to enact these rule changes.
Click here to go directly to the comment page (search “OMB-2026-0034” if the link does not open directly.) If the web link doesn’t work, you can email your comment directly to OMB at MBX.OMB.Grants@OMB.eop.gov — include “OMB-2026-0034” in the subject line and note you attempted to submit online.
Do not copy-and-paste someone else’s comment! If you do this your comment will be “batched” with other identical comments and will count as a single comment. You must write your own comment in your own words – but you can find guidelines and talking points in the attached document.
The deadline to submit your comment is July 13, 2026 — do not wait until the last day. Regulations.gov is often overwhelmed on the final day of a comment period. Submit your comment as soon as it’s ready.
You can make the difference in whether the federal government imposes these new regulations. After you add your comment, please share this with your friends and fellow workers and urge them to log their own comments. Let's make sure working people's voices are heard in this process.
