Please join APALA Seattle, the Puyallup Japanese American Citizens League and Tsuru Solidarity for this year's Japanese American Day of Remembrance on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Washington State Fairgrounds (110 9th Ave SW, Puyallup, WA 98371 - click here for a map) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Japanese American Day of Remembrance is a way to acknowledge and honor the over 125,000 working people of Japanese descent who were incarcerated during World War II. While interred, Japanese Americans were expected to help build and maintain the concentration camps where they were held under poor working conditions and with little pay.
This year’s program will include a fireside chat with survivors, a reading by author Tamiko Nimura from her new book, paintings by artist Chris Hopkins, and updates from Tsuru for Solidarity on actions needed to support immigrant and refugee communities.
Parking and admission is free - park at the Washington State Fair’s Gold Parking Lot, and volunteers will guide you from the lot through the Gold Gate entrance into the Expo Hall.
Please contact Tracy Lai at talyce.lai@gmail.com or via text to (206) 919-1261 to RSVP. APALA Seattle may be able to arrange carpools.
Please note: Tsuru for Solidarity's Solidarity Day: Northwest Detention Center follows the Day Of Remembrance at 1:00 PM in Tacoma. Please see the attached flier for more information on this event.
