The labor movement has a proud history of winning good health care benefits for union members and our families, including Taft-Hartley multi-employer plans. Labor also played a central role in winning the Medicare and Medicaid programs for seniors, the disabled and low-income Americans. Today, however, these gains are eroding.

What can the labor movement do to protect and improve the gains we have made in health care? How can we help make access to health care a guaranteed right of all Americans?  Rose will work with Labor champions and community members from around Washington State to:

  • Work with TLM CLC and Kitsap CLC’s Single-Payer Committees to organize to pass a Single-Payer Resolution at the Washington State Labor Council Convention in July.

  • Ask questions about the reality of passing Single Payer Health Care and any potential impact to a union’s ability to negotiate a fair and prosperous contract for their members.

  • Create a pathway to National Single Payer through state-based universal health plans in Washington and several other states that are now working on it.

  • Participate in breakout sessions on organizing YOUR Union Local, Central Labor Council or Community-focused Single-Payer Resolution.

The Thurston - Lewis - Mason Central Labor Council is proud to sponsor this event in conjunction with The Kitsap Central Labor Council, AFT Washington, and Whole Washington.

Registration is required to attend this event, and space is limited - so register today and join us in finding ways Labor can lead the way to winning guaranteed health care for everyone.
