The Thurston - Lewis - Mason Central Labor Council, Pierce Central Labor Council, and UFCW 367 are joining with Tacoma For All to present a Workers' Rights Summit on July 20th in Olympia and July 21st in Tacoma.
The Summit will kick-off the fight to win a Workers’ Bill of Rights in Tacoma. Representatives of UFCW 367 note that 7,500 grocery workers are facing unacceptable cuts to their hours and increasingly unpredictable schedules, and these same trends are impacting most retail and food services workers, union and non-union. Meanwhile, wages are not keeping up with inflation and understaffing is undermining workplace safety.
That’s why, in tandem with its 2025 contract campaign, UFCW 367 is aiming to build a broad coalition to win a higher minimum wage, fair scheduling, and workplace safety in Tacoma and beyond.

As The Stand noted in its recent coverage of the event, "this campaign is building off the coalition work with Tacoma for All that successfully brought forth a Tenant Bill of Rights ballot initiative in Tacoma last November, winning the strongest renter protections in WA State. Within six months, workers in Olympia won similar protections. That momentum is carrying the work forward to expand on these victories. While the coalition has some ideas for policies to include within a Workers’ Bill of Rights, the summits are intended to ensure the campaign is informed by the needs of working people and responsive to the ideas workers put forth at these two events."
